FACEBOOK HITS THE BOOKS: SAT PREP GOES INTERACTIVE

Posted by admin

You probably don’t want to admit it: how much time are you on Facebook already? While you’re there, here’s a reason to spend a few minutes more each day, and practice for the SAT at the same time.

It’s no substitute for working with the College Board’s practice tests and official study guide, but Kaplan’s QBank Challenge is an easy way to answer three questions each day. You are given 3 minutes and 45 seconds to answer them, and can choose among your facebook friends to play against, or just answer them on your own. Explanations for each answer are given once you’ve completed the questions.

Both times I’ve done QBank, there was one Critical Reading, one Math, and one Writing multiple choice question, so the application won’t help with reading comprehension, math grid-ins, or essay writing. But like the College Board’s SAT Question of the Day, it does keep you nimble and familiar with those three question types.

From QBank, you can go to Kaplan’s Spitcabulary for interactive vocabulary lessons (set up as a game), and Smashwall, which promises to “smash away your test prep stress.”
